Devoted, I do worship Thee, unseen Divinity: Truly present, truly hid by these figures from me. Unto Thee I will my heart to ever subject be, For this heart will ever fail in contemplating Thee. Vision, touch, and even taste in Thee are made unsure, Hearing only truly tells of what is truly here, And I believe all that is told by God's only Son, There's naught truer than this Truth, no Word to better trust. On the Cross was hidden only Thy Divinity, And here too it hidden is with Thy Humanity, But both believing, both confessing, still here I will stand, Seeking what was sought by the thief at Thy right hand. Thy holy Wounds I do not see as Thomas long ago, But that Thou art my Lord and God with certainty I know. Make me ever more believing all that Thou dost say, All my hope in Thee placing, Thee loving all my days. O holy remembrance of Our Lord's holy Death, Giving life to all mankind by this Living Bread; Give me grace Lord, by this means to ever live in Thee, The savor of Thy sweetness to ever keep with me. O loving wounded pelican, Jesus Christ my Lord, Cleanse all my uncleanness by Thy Most Precious Blood, Of which but a single drop, if Thou willed, could have saved All the earth, cleansing thereby every sinful stain. Jesus who I see now, here hidden from mine eyes, I pray grant to me now this, my great desire: That I may see unveiled, unhid, what none can contemplate, That Vision, glorious and blest, of Thy Most Holy Face. Amen.
Joe, St. Thomas' prayer is so profound, the idea of spending time interacting with it in this way is a wonderful reflective way of praying! Thank you for sharing.
